Screenshots and text recognition
Private Screenshot Redactor captures the visible active tab only when you click its toolbar button, or opens an image you choose. The screenshot may contain website content, names, email addresses, phone numbers, financial details, authentication tokens, communications, health information, location information, or other information visible in the image. These pixels and recognized text are processed locally to let you crop, review, and redact the image. Screenshots and recognized text are never uploaded to Fourteener Software, ExtensionPay, Stripe, or an OCR service. No browsing history is collected. There is no analytics or advertising code.
All OCR code and the English recognition model are bundled with the extension. Manual redaction and export are free. Automatic detection and saved category preferences require a verified Pro purchase. Internet access is required for purchase verification, not text recognition.
Temporary and saved data
The full viewport capture is temporarily stored in Chrome's memory-only session storage for transfer into the editor, then removed when retrieved. An unclaimed capture expires after 60 seconds and is removed by the scheduled cleanup when available or when the background worker next starts. Cropping does not prevent the full viewport from briefly existing in local memory. Working images and text remain in editor memory until the editor closes or you choose Discard. Browser and operating-system memory management is outside the extension's control.
Pro detection categories are stored in local extension storage and are not synced. Screenshots are not stored in a screenshot history. Copy writes the flattened image to your system clipboard. Save PNG downloads it. Discard does not remove previous clipboard copies, downloads, or images you have shared elsewhere.
Purchases and restoration
ExtensionPay and Stripe handle optional purchases. ExtensionPay receives an installation/license identifier to retrieve the configured plans, verify purchase status, and open checkout or purchase restoration. A development/test-install flag is included when creating a license for an unpacked installation. Network services also receive ordinary connection metadata such as IP address. The extension does not attach screenshots, recognized text, or captured-page URLs to these requests.
ExtensionPay's library stores its license identifier, installation date and returned account/purchase information, which may include email address, paid status, purchase date and plan, in Chrome synchronized storage with a local-storage fallback. If Chrome sync is enabled, this billing information may sync through the user's Google account. An identifier and purchase status are not a raw card number. Full card details are entered on the payment provider's checkout; the extension does not receive them. Purchase or restoration emails are entered on ExtensionPay's or Stripe's pages. We can access purchase/account records through their merchant dashboards to support purchases.
Payment and account data retained by ExtensionPay and Stripe follows their policies and applicable retention obligations. See ExtensionPay and Stripe's privacy policies. Contact [email protected] for account or deletion requests; uninstalling the extension does not itself delete payment-provider records or synced billing data.
Permissions and network use
activeTab allows user-initiated visible-tab screenshots. storage supports temporary capture transfer, local Pro settings, and ExtensionPay billing state. clipboardWrite writes the finished screenshot. Access to https://extensionpay.com/* is used only for plan, checkout, restoration and purchase-status requests. There are no content scripts, background webpage monitoring or remotely executed code. All payment connections use HTTPS; checkout opens in the browser.
Limited use and sharing
Fourteener Software's use of information received through Chrome extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide screenshot capture/redaction/export, purchase verification/restoration, and related support. We do not sell user data, use it for advertising or credit decisions, or transfer it for unrelated purposes. Payment providers receive only information needed for the purchase features. We do not receive or review your screenshot content unless you separately choose to send it to support.
Detection limits
Automatic suggestions can miss or misread information. Names, faces, addresses, handwriting and unusual formats may need manual boxes. Review the full image before sharing. Export replaces selected areas with solid black pixels in a new PNG; it does not create removable overlay layers.
